Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood remains interest in Emmanuel Adebayor as a possible replacement for Christian Benteke.
With rumours suggesting Liverpool are set to meet Benteke's £32.5million buyout clause, Villa have been forced to come up with a contingency plan to cover the proposed exit of the Belgian striker.
Tottenham forward Adebayor has previously been linked with a move to Villa Park and the Daily Mail is reporting that Sherwood is keen on reuniting with the Togo international who flourished under his tutelage at White Hart Lane.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy reportedly wants a fee of £5million but may accept less if Villa are serious about signing the former Arsenal and Manchester City man.
