Aston Villa staff forced to clean up offensive messages left for McLeish

Aston Villa fans have let Randy Lerner know what they think of his move for former Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish.

The Telegraph says club staff arrived at the Bodymoor Heath complex on Wednesday morning to see "Bluenose scum not welcome" scrawled in white paint on the side of the smart brick wall at the entrance of the club.

The letters 'SOTC' - which stand for 'S*** on the City' - were also sprayed down the side of the gate post.

It was not long before a member of staff in a tracksuit was outside cleaning the offensive words away, but Lerner and his chief executive Paul Faulkner will know that soapy water will not wash away the seething fury among supporters for the club's intent to make McLeish, the Birmingham City manager, their replacement for Gerard Houllier.
