Scott Sinclair is likely to join Aston Villa on a permanent basis at the end of the season in a move that would end an unhappy spell with giants Manchester City.
Sinclair has been on loan at the West Midlands club since January, with limited appearances in the Premier League interspersed with some impressive form in Villa's run to the FA Cup final.
"There's a discussion to be had at the end of the season," Villa manager Tim Sherwood said.
"I'm not sure if (a deal) is cast in stone.
"The injuries interrupted him but we have changed the style and the way we play a little bit, I think if we back to wide players then Scott will be an automatic choice to play there.
"He's been training, still a good lad, a good player".
