Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gana is in France for treatment to his hamstring injury.

Villa boss Tim Sherwood reckons the £9m man has looked the most likely of his signings to take the Premier League by storm.

He's gutted that the former Lille man won't be in the frame for the crunch local derby clash with Birmingham City.

He said: “He was injured in training on Friday. It's a recurrence of his hamstring problem.

“It's a real shame because he has been the most outstanding one of the ones I have brought in. It happens, but we will be ready for the game whoever crosses that line."
