Aston Villa's Cuellar linked with Rangers

Scottish champions Rangers are being linked with a return for Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar.

The 29-year old Spanish centre-half, who can also play at right back, made just 12 appearances for the English Premier League club last season and his name is now being thrown around for a potential summer move.

Cuellar spent one season with 'Gers after signing a four-year deal back in the summer of 2007 but left for Villa Park the following off-season and now a return to Ibrox could possibly be on the cards as Ally McCoist looks to strengthen his defence which could potentially lose Madjid Bougherra and David Weir.

But if Rangers are serious about their interest in Cuellar they will have to move quickly as recent reports suggest that Espanyol and Villarreal are also keen.
