Blackburn Rovers are close to securing the services of Barry Bannan from Aston Villa.
The 23-year old midfielder is unlikely to feature under Paul Lambert this season after he signed the likes of Leandro Bacuna and Aleksandar Tonev and could move to Ewood Park for around £750,000.
Rovers boss Gary Bowyer was fairly confident of getting the deal done: "It's still ongoing. These things take a little bit longer than managers want.
"We have just got to keep working hard at it and try to get things over the line. If it doesn't happen, then we have got other targets that we can certainly aim for."
