Aston Villa were unimpressed by Liverpool's late attempt to sign goalkeeper Shay Given.
The Daily Mail says Liverpool did make an enquiry for goalkeeper Given but it was an offer to take the veteran former Ireland international on loan for a season and, as only a small percentage of his wage was due to be met, was not given serious consideration.
A loan move to the Championship is now likely for the keeper.
