Christian Benteke is ahead of his initial return date according to Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert.
The highly-talented 23-year old Belgian striker ruptured his Achilles in April and was expected to be sidelined for eight months.
However, Benteke has been working hard on his rehab and could be back in Villa's line-up soon after five months out of the game.
"I'm delighted with the efforts of the medical team here at Villa for working incredibly hard with Christian to get him back to fitness so quickly," Lambert told Villa's official website of Benteke who was forced out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
"Christian trained today, though it was a light session. Hopefully, with no effects from that, he'll train again on Tuesday.
"Obviously, we'll be monitoring his fitness and we'll continue to build him up towards a return to the team."
