Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is eyeing Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott.
Lescott remains determined to leave City in January after talks with manager Manuel Pellegrini resulted in no assurances over his first team status when everyone is fit.
Lambert is keeping tabs on the situation and has the cash available to move for the England international in January.
The need for a new centre-half has become more acute this week with Denmark international Jores Okore ruled out for nine months with a knee injury.
