Aston Villa could still change hands in the coming weeks.

The Daily Star Sunday says Villa owner Randy Lerner is back in talks for the sale – this time with an American company with sporting connections.

Previous proposed takeovers at Villa Park have failed to materialise.

At one time this year the famous Midlands club looked like becoming Chinese-owned.

Former Chelsea chief executive Paul Smith was also believed to be fronting a consortium keen to buy Villa.

And there has also been previous interest from the USA through American Lerner's contacts in his home country.
