Aston Villa are in contact with AS Monaco for defender Aymen Abdennour.

Abdennour has been linked with Newcastle United this week, however, Foot Mercato says Villa and AS Roma are the two clubs currently in talks with ASM.

Monaco are demanding big money to sell Abdennour, who is inside the final year of his current deal.

Monaco rate the defender at €28 million and will accept offers of €25 million plus a further €3 million in bonuses.

ASM chiefs have already turned down a €20 million plus €5 million in bonuses offer for Abdennour this summer.
