Aston Villa may face competition in their effort to re-sign Manchester City midfielder James Milner.
The Daily Mail says news that City have made concerted efforts to sign Alexis Sanchez from Udinese has not lifted Milner's spirits and clubs are ready to pounce.
City do not want to sell and obviously wouldn't let him go cheaply if they did. However, a deal may be on when their own purchases are made if Milner remains on the periphery of the first team.
The 25-year-old made 28 appearances last season, his lowest since 2004, and would like more games. City may loan him out if his wages are paid in full.
Villa are keen, but Liverpool may also move for Milner should he become available.
