Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is keen on Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis.

The Sun says Villa boss Lambert is ready to bid £7million for the striker, who has 50 goals in 142 games for the French club.

Michael Laudrup's Swansea, Newcastle and Premier League new-boys Cardiff have been tracking him along with Ukrainians Shakhtar Donetsk.

Gomis wants a Champions League club, but Villa will try to tempt him with an offer of around £50,000 a week.
