Villa's hierarchy are giving the boss every possible chance to recover from his latest heart scare before the ultimate decision is made regarding his future.
Houllier, chairman Randy Lerner and chief executive Paul Faulkner, will know whether the boss is fit enough to return to Villa Park duty within two weeks of the season ending.
The club are confident the time-frame will not disrupt their close season plans.
