After a successful loan spell with Rayo Vallecano, Kakuta was expected to sign permanently this week.
A fee of €3.5 million plus bonuses had been agreed between Sevilla and Chelsea earlier this month, but Foot Mercato says the move has stalled with the Spanish Liga club attempting to talk down the price.
The delay has opened the door to rivals, with Villa and AC Milan making contact with Kakuta's camp.
However, Sevilla remain confident of signing the Frenchman and expect to have in Spain tomorrow for a medical.
