Tom Cleverley is one person who is not surprised by Danny Welbeck's good early form with new club Arsenal.
The Aston Villa loanee played alongside the Gunners striker at Manchester United from their early days in the Red Devils' youth academy and is well aware of what he can produce on a football pitch.
Welbeck was sold by United bos Louis van Gaal this past summer for an apparent lack of goals but has kicked off his Arsenal career in fine form with four goals in five outings including a hat-trick in the 4-1 Champions League win over Galatasaray on Wednesday night which prompted the following comments from old teammate Cleverley.
"I'm just really happy for him. Everyone knows he's a great player but he's also a fantastic lad," he told Sky Sports News HQ.
"Arsene Wenger said it himself; until you work with him you don't realise how technically good he is.
"He's got everything in the bag so it's no surprise that he's banging the goals in and creating so many chances.
"He's lighting quick so that's no secret to me because I've been working with him for so long."
