Aston Villa are making a surprise move for Liverpool midfielder Stewart Downing.
The Express & Star says Villa could offer Downing a shock return to the club but will only go as high as £6million.
Villa are mindful of the £70,000-a-week wage the 28-year-old earns at Liverpool.
