Aston Villa keeper Guzan welcomes healthy competition for US spots

Brad Guzan has welcomed any potential competition for places in the USA squad.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper and his national teammates are preparing for upcoming friendlies with Holland and Germany ahead of this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup and is set to battle it out with the likes of Nick Rimando and William Yarbrough for the starting spot in Jurgen Klinsmann's side.

"There's always competition for places," Guzan told MLSsoccer.com.

"For us, [from this week's games through the end of Gold Cup] is a long time, so we'll take it one game at a time.

"We want to be as hard possible to play against, and to beat. It starts here in training. You hope to get better and get on the same page."
