Aston Villa insists they're not about to appoint Mark Hughes as new manager.
Hughes skipped out on Fulham yesterday and was expected to replace Gerard Houllier at Villa Park.
But PA Sport says sources close to Villa are adamant it is pure coincidence Hughes is available at this juncture and insisting "don't believe what the bookmakers are saying".
"The club are aware of the need to bring in the right man with the right pedigree," said a source.
"But they are also aware of the important of giving him time to make his mark before the new season after last summer."
