Aston Villa have joined the battle for Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

The Daily Star says Sissoko is on Aston Villa's January shopping list.

Villa boss Paul Lambert has vowed to add strength to his midfield this month and Sissoko fits the bill.

The 23-year-old could be available for as little as £3million, with the Ligue 1 club desperate to avoid losing him for nothing when his contract expires this summer.

He was previously a Villa target when Frenchman Gerard Houllier was in charge of the Midlands club.
