Aston Villa are bracing themselves for bids for Christian Benteke.
The Daily Mail says Benteke was the subject of a summer bid by Tottenham which Villa were able to rebuff as their £25m asking price was not met.
The powerful Belgium international subsequently signed a new four-year contract to remain at Villa Park.
But with the World Cup looming, Villa know that the additional exposure offered by a higher-profile club could prove the difference between the forward remaining with them or alternatively moving on.
