Aston Villa are ready to release Nicklas Helenius from his contract.

The Birmingham Mail says talks are taking place to terminate the 24-year-old's contract before the end of the month as Tim Sherwood continues to rebuild his squad.

The Danish forward, signed for £1.3million by former manager Paul Lambert, is currently on loan at Aalborg and is expected to sign a permanent deal once his situation at Villa is resolved.

Despite monitoring Helenius' performances, Villa have no interest in keeping him at the club.
