Dortmund admit they face a battle to keep the Turkey international, revealing an approach from Real Madrid last week.
The Express & Star says Villa are also interested in signing Turkey international midfielder Sahin.
Sahin, free-scoring midfielder, has had a big influence on Dortmund's domination of the Bundesliga this season.
