Aston Villa are lining up a move for Hamburg defender Guy Demel.
The Daily Mail says Villa are considering a move for Hamburg full-back Demel should they fail to conclude a £4million deal with Tottenham over Alan Hutton.
Manager Alex McLeish wants to strengthen his defence after selling Luke Young to QPR and has been keen on Hutton for some time.
Ivory Coast international Demel, 30, is available on a free transfer. He spent the 2000-01 season at Arsenal.
