The Daily Star says O'Neill wants Dutch star Van der Wiel to solve his problem right-back slot.
O'Neill is primed to move for the Dutch international with a £4 million offer. Nigel de Jong, the Manchester City midfielder, urged his club to move for Van der Wiel last week.
