Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood was pleased with two-goal Rudy Gestede after defeat at Liverpool.

Gestede scored both Villa goals in the 3-2 reverse.

“The positives are that Idrissa Gana has come through 90 minutes and he looked fine," Sherwood said. “He looked a little bit tired at the end there.

“Rudy Gestede, obviously another two goals for him.

“People have questioned whether Rudy will score goals in the Premier League but I think he's answered that already. He can score at any level of the game because he's such a threat.

“You have to get the ball into those areas to be able to cross.

“We tried to be very compact and the goals and the timing of the goals killed us."
