Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is counting on defender Richard Dunne next season.
McLeish, who believes in using his senior pros to rule the dressing room, is keen to make 31-year-old Dunne feel wanted again.
The big defender had a turbulent year that reached a low point when he was heavily fined following a drunken row with coach Gordon Cowans.
So he encouraged Dunne to help him sell his vision of Villa's future to Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given.
The 65-cap defender said: "I spoke to Shay and he just wanted to get started. He was frustrated over the way things have gone.
"I know him. He will come in and within a week it'll seem like he's been here a long time."
