Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is happy with his decision to quit neighbours Birmingham City for Villa Park.
McLeish has dampened down dissent at Villa by guiding the club to eighth place, and just one defeat in eight league games, despite having to deal with budget cut-backs.
He admits he has been pleasantly surprised by the lack of flak recently.
"It has been decent progress and maybe I expected a little bit worse of a start because of coming into the club under the circumstances that I did," said McLeish.
"It's never easy when you come in the face of adversity, where there are so many negative things flying about. But now I'm glad I stuck to my principles and did it my way."
