Aston Villa are interested in Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.
The Scottish Sun says McLeish has to sign a keeper after Brad Friedel quit to join Tottenham and could test Gers' resolve with a large bid for £5m-rated McGregor.
Villa were tracking the Scot before McLeish's appointment.
Eck worked with McGregor while in charge of Rangers.
