Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is seeking greater consistency from his midfielders.

Villa's attacking stars showed exciting signs of clicking into life during Saturday's 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic at Villa Park. And McLeish wants his potential match-winners to maintain their menacing form.

"We have had solid performances from defenders and Shay Given, who have to be the most consistent players in the team," he said.

"The defenders, when it comes to the ratings each year, are normally the highest in terms of consistency.

"But if we can get the other creative players to the same level then they can cause any defender problems."
