Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has revealed he hopes to secure a loan deal for Chelsea striker Loic Remy when the January transfer window opens.

Garde said he is confident Remy could play a major role in the Villans' push to avoid relegation this campaign.

"Loic is a guy that I know well and of course he would be an interesting player for the team," Garde said of his French compatriot.

"Loic is a special one because he knows the country and he knows the league.

"I've got some [transfer] targets who are at this level, but maybe don't know the country and the league."
