Former Rangers manager Alex McLeish reportedly helped Old Firm rivals Celtic clinch the signing of Victor Wanyama.
The 20-year old Kenya international joined the Scottish giants on the weekend but it wasn't without its difficulties as he attempted to obtain a work permit.
But Rob Moore said that new Aston Villa boss McLeish and former Chelsea director Frank Arnesen both wrote letters of recommendation so Neil Lennon could stitch up the £1million deal.
"We had letters of recommendation from Alex, who was keen to sign him for Birmingham, and from Frank Arnesen, who knew about him when he was at Chelsea," Moore said.
