Christian Benteke has handed Aston Villa a major boost after scoring on his return to action on Monday.
The Belgian striker was on the scoresheet as Villa's U21s defeated Bolton 3-0, marking his comeback from the Achilles injury he sustained in April.
Benteke, who was forced out of the World Cup with the problem, converted from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute before he was replaced just after the hour-mark.
Joining Benteke in the U21s side was Joe Cole, who has also recovered from injury, with the former Chelsea and West Ham United man also netting courtesy of a fine curling effort on 56 minutes.
Benteke and Cole will both be considered for Villa's next Premier League fixture which takes place at Villa Park against reigning champions Manchester City on Saturday.
