Assou-Ekotto: Wembley home for Tottenham

Tottenham fullback Benoit Assou-Ekotto says the club can be proud of their frequent visits to Wembley ahead of their FA Cup semi.

He wrote in the London Evening Standard: "I was thinking about my time at Tottenham the other day and it struck me that Spurs have had a little love affair with Wembley in those six years.

"I think Sunday makes it four times we have made it to Wembley since I joined the club. But like love it's not always the case that the one you admire loves you back. I never got to play in the old stadium but this new Wembley keeps popping up. I think that means something. It shows the club are doing something right.

"There are many teams that have never had the chance to take their fans there. But sometimes you can come to a lover's house and they are not nice to you . . . you know? I don't think there's any team that can say Wembley is always nice to them. Or maybe there is and I just don't know enough about football!"
