Asian consortium confirmed as new Reading owners

Reading chairman Sir John Madejski has confirmed that a deal to sell the Championship club to an Asian consortium has gone through, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. The deal, first reported in June and finalised last weekend following approval from the Football League, comes after Reading's former majority shareholder Anton Zingarevich decided not to take full control of the club late last year.

Khunying Sasima Srivikorn, who becomes co-chairwoman of the club alongside continuing co-chairman Madejski, has purchased 25 per cent of the club. Fellow investor Khun Narin Niruttinanon has bought 50 per cent and Khun Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth the remaining 25 per cent.

The relatively unknown Thai trio all join the Reading Football Club board, as well as Khun Jack Srisumrid and Khun Theekharoj Piamphongsarn.

Current chief executive Nigel Howe and non-executive director Ian Wood-Smith retain their positions.

"After months of tireless hard work and a lot of speculation, I am very pleased to say that Reading Football Club's future has been resolved," Madejski said in a statement to Reading fans.

"Over the past year, since the Zingarevich family left, we have engaged with a number of different prospective investors, but we have now succeeded in finding who I believe are the right people to take this club forward."

"I cannot speak highly enough of our new partners from the time we have spent together so far. They have shown great professionalism, perseverance, patience and diligence and, on a personal level, our relationship is excellent and long may that continue."
