Akira Nishino is hoping Gamba Osaka's previous Asian Champions League experiences hold them in good stead for tonight's Round of 16 knockout match with Seongnam Ilhwa in Korea.
The Japanese club won the competition in 2008 so they know what it takes to be successful in Asia but Nishino wants it to count in the 2010 version as they are up against a very powerful side.
"It is an honour to play against Seongnam, who are known as a very strong side in Asia, but we have experience in the Champions League," he said.
"We are aware of the fact that we represent Japanese football. I know what we can do. We will overcome the handicap of away game."
Gamba goalkeeper Yosuke Fujiyaga said he would do everything in his power to keep the Seongnam attack at bay.
"We played in the Champions League last year but we could not have what we wanted," he said.
"We will get what we want by winning tomorrow's game. Seongnam plays solid football. That is a very Korean style. I will defend their attacks at any cost."
