West Bromwich Albion chief Dan Ashworth hopes to leave with the club looking forward to a European campaign.
Ashworth will leave the Hawthorns at the end of the season for a role with the FA.
He told the Daily Express: "Yes, I'll miss the buzz on a Saturday. It was a tough decision to leave as I have been at Albion a long time. But this call, the opportunity to do something for your country, is something I always wanted.
"It has been a big part of my life, this place. This is my sixth season as technical director. I've been here nine years, and I'm 41. That is nearly one-quarter of my life.
"But if West Brom can get top six this season, maybe into Europe as well, that would be the perfect finish."
