Ashley Young has dedicated his Premiership Player of the Month trophy to Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill.

Young told AVTV: "The manager has been brilliant with me since I arrived at the club. You just have to look at his track record and what he has done in his career.

"He brought me to the club and I wanted to repay him. He's been brilliant with me. Every player will say the same.

"He knows each individual and what it takes to deal with them. He has dealt with me brilliantly. I dedicate the award to him for pushing me in the right direction. He's helped my game develop and I really appreciate it.

"My main aim is doing well for the team and helping us climb that table.

"But winning the award means a lot to me. It's a big thing and shows that I have been doing something right on the pitch, which is great."
