Ashes fall-out prevents Polish striker attending Blackburn trial

Robert Lewandowski has had to call off a proposed trip to Blackburn on Saturday. Rovers are battling with the likes of Genoa and Borussia Dortmund to sign the highly-rated Lech Poznan front-man.

The 22-year-old is high on Sam Allardyce's wanted list and reports suggest that Blackburn are willing to meet Lech's asking price - believed to be £4.3million.

And it has now emerged that he was due to fly to England on Saturday to watch Blackburn's game with Everton.

But the closure of airports in Britain and Poland, due to the volcanic ash from Iceland, has meant Lewandowski had to postpone his trip.

"He got the invitation [from Blackburn], but due to the cancellation of the flights he could not go, and it makes no sense to drive," said Lewandowski's agent Cezary Kucharski
