Hull City midfielder Ian Ashbee has revealed he has the backing of manager Phil Brown to cut it in the Premiership next season.

"The manager says to me he thinks I can play in the Premier League so if the manager says that, then it's good enough for me" said Ashbee.

"My friend Gavin Mahon has played there with Watford and we've had plenty of chats about the standard that you need to be at. It's a challenge for all of us but it's one that I'm desperate to do. I feel as though I can and hopefully I'll get the chance.

"It's just a couple of months away now and hopefully the chance will come."
