Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta insists he is "happy" at Everton after reports linked him with a move to Atletico Madrid.
But he told the club's official website: "I don't know what the story is. I haven't talked to any papers. About five years ago I said it was a good club and I still think that.
"I am happy here. The supporters know the way I think.
"It is nice to be linked with big teams but for me it is a lack of respect from someone who has written something I never said and I think that is really wrong."
