Arteta: Everton boo boys did hurt me

Mikel Arteta admits the Everton boo-boys did affect him.

The midfielder was back to his best for victory over Sunderland.

He admitted: "I'm always really critical of myself when things aren't going well and I understand the fans.

"They pay for the tickets and want to watch good football and as players, we set the standards. So when they're not happy there will be a reaction and you have to accept that. I was not disappointed with them for that, I was disappointed with myself. When your confidence is high and everything is going well you're trying all kinds of things and don't think about it.

"But when things don't come off for you, you get p****d off. When people have shown you a lot of love but then have a reaction about how it's going, it isn't nice. What they couldn't criticise is my attitude and commitment - I wouldn't take that - but the other stuff is fine.

"But I am feeling good physically and mentally and that fear has gone.
