Arteta confirmed as Arsenal player after departing Everton

Mikel Arteta has signed with Arsenal from Everton on a four-year deal for an unconfirmed fee of around £10million.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger left it very late to snare the Spanish playmaker who told Toffees boss David Moyes today that he wanted to leave Goodison Park.

"Mikel indicated to me that he wished to join Arsenal. I am very disappointed to lose him, but the prospect of Champions League football was something I wasn't able to offer him," Moyes said.

Arteta joins Yossi Benayoun as deadline signings for Arsenal with the Israel international joining on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
