Arshavin aiming to get back to his best with Arsenal

Arsenal striker Andrey Arshavin is keen to get back to his best and has set himself a target of 15 goals next season.

The talented Russian experienced second year blues with the Gunners last season, scoring just six Premier League goals - as opposed to 10 in his debut season - but he is confident he can return to top form.

Arshavin looked disinterested at times last campaign but his most recent comments suggest he is up for the challenge of bouncing back to the top.

"I think we will get stronger and stronger," he told the Official Matchday Programme.

"In particular I think our work on set pieces, both attacking and defending, will be better. We'll also play a pressing game - if we do that well, I'm sure you'll see an improved team.

"My own target is simple - I would like to score 15 goals in total."

And Arshavin is looking forward to Arsenal's annual Emirates Cup which takes place this weekend involving Boca Juniors, Paris Saint-Germain and New York Red Bulls.

"I always enjoy this tournament and hopefully we'll show plenty of good things, but to be honest it's not vital to win it," he added.

"We've done that twice since I've been here and didn't win any trophies the following season, so I'd happily swap."
