Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is convinced that Jack Wilshere needs to go out on loan to aid his development as a player. The 17-year-old has been linked with a temporary switch to Burnley, but the Frenchman wants a guarantee that Wilshere would play before he sanctions the loan.
The Gunners chief thinks that it could work out in a similarly positive way to Ashley Cole's loan from Arsenal to Crystal Palace 10 years ago.
"[A loan spell] is like a finishing school. It is what we call a post-education experience," Wenger explained to his club's official website.
"The spell at Palace really gave Ashley the needed confidence and convinced everybody that he could play at the top level because he adapted straight away.
"Ten years later you think it was not a coincidence."
