Arsenal's Walcott: I've avoided Croatia press hype

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott admits he's avoided the papers after his sensational performance in Croatia last week.

Following victory at Blackburn Rovers, Walcott admitted: "I haven't read anything in the papers (about Croatia) even though I know it's good. I leave that to my parents. That's me - I don't get too involved in what's going on. I try to keep my feet on the ground.

"I'm just going to work hard, take every game as it comes and, if I keep on performing well, then hopefully I can keep my place in the Arsenal team. It will be difficult because there are so many world-class players at the club. I'm only 19 and it's a very big step up for me but hopefully I can push on and do it.

"I've had a lot of pressure thrown at me from a young age so all this now doesn't really bother me at all. I've got some brilliant people around me at Arsenal and it's going really well at the moment.

"I know I'll get comparisons with Thierry Henry because I've got the number 14 shirt, but he was 22 when he started here. I've a little way to go before then but hopefully I can keep on going as I am."
