Arsenal's Van Persie: Injury fear drives me on

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie admits he has a permanent fear of being injured.

The Dutchman was out for six months last season after breaking his foot and is now determined to make the most of every healthy minute.

And Van Persie, 24, admits that fear has turned into a massive motivation for him.

He said: "I'm playing every game as if it was my last. I am treating training the same way. That is my mentality after my injury. My attitude is now - make this your best match. Then if something happens to me then I can leave the field knowing I put on a good performance.

"I was injured in a fraction of a second and at that moment I was playing the best football of my life.

"I was out for six months and that got me thinking."
