Arsenal attacker Lukas Podolski is out of Germany's World Cup round of 16 clash with Algeria.
Podolski, who is no longer an automatic starter for the national team, injured his thigh in the first half of their 1-0 win over the United States and was taken off at halftime.
Tests late on Saturday showed he would not be available for their first knockout game in the tournament.
"Lukas must rest for two or three days," said Germany coach Joachim Low.
"Should we progress, it won't be a problem for him to play."
