Arsenal's Diaby: I can get goals
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 07:42
Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has told fans he has attacking qualities in his locker.
Diaby was once tipped for a defensive midfield role alongside Cesc Fabregas but the Frenchman has augmented Arsenal's attack from central or wide positions instead. He admits that attacking football comes naturally to him.
He told arsenal.com: "Everyone likes to score goals as well sometimes. I like to go forward and score some goals," he said. "Sometimes after training I am working on my finishing and things like that.
"In the games it has happened that there can be some situations when I am in front of the keeper and I don't want to miss it. I used to play behind the striker when I was young in the academy so it is something I know."

agree with both of the above. i think the concensus amongst arsenal fans is the same. he has undoubted talent but hasn't yet learned how to use it efficently. his work rate needs to improve as the game goes past him far too often. nasri and rosicky will soon have his place on a regular if he's not careful and our perfomance would frankly improve as their use of the ball and tackling is at a better level right now.
Diaby is an awesome talent but still so much to improve in his game intelligence i.e. engaging and closing players down and not just jockeying and quicker more conifident team play. i look forward to seeing him shine at the arsenal preferably soon rather than later
diaby holds the ball for too long, then the oppurtunity disappears...
Diaby must first learn not to loose ball possession and tackle players without making a foul and still give away the ball. He also needs to involve himself more and keep dribbling less.
I feel that somebody else could be given the place of Diaby.
The Arsenal supporters do not care who scores but that they score and not loose chances.
