Arsenal's Bellerin thrilled with opportunity during Debuchy absence

Arsenal's young right-back Hector Bellerin has expressed his delight in manager Arsene Wenger's decision to put faith in him during Mathieu Debuchy's long-term injury absence.

Debuchy has featured in only 10 games for the Gunners after moving to North London from Newcastle United in the summer while Bellerin has gone on to feature 20 times in all competitions for the club, earning plaudits for his performances.

Bellerin said: "There always has to be a transition between older players and the younger players. We are lucky in this club, we young players get the opportunities and it is important when you get them that you need to take them.

"That is the way to get a place in the team and I am just really happy to be getting my minutes.

"In the end, the chances always come through injuries, which is not a nice thing. Now we are going to have Debuchy back and I am happy for him. But when you get your chance, you need to do the best you can.

"I am happy that now after not so good performances in the beginning, that the coach has still put confidence in me and giving me minutes. I have done my best to take this opportunity."
